Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed August 5, 2026
Our commitment
Business funding information should be usable by every business owner — including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice control, or reduced-motion settings. BluLoans targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, across the site, and treats accessibility as an engineering requirement rather than a retrofit.
We are stating a target, not claiming a certification. No third-party audit has been performed as of this statement's review date, and we will not claim conformance we have not verified.
Concrete measures in place
These are specific things built into the site today, not aspirations:
- Semantic HTML throughout. Pages use real headings in a logical hierarchy (one H1 per page, ordered H2/H3 sections), landmark regions, lists, and native elements, so assistive technology can navigate by structure.
- Skip link. A "skip to content" link lets keyboard users bypass navigation on every page.
- Visible focus states. Interactive elements — links, buttons, calculator inputs — have clearly visible focus indicators, so keyboard users always know where they are.
- Contrast-checked design tokens. Site colors are defined as design tokens checked against WCAG AA contrast ratios for text and interactive elements, in both light and dark presentation.
- Reduced-motion support. The site respects the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting; animation and transitions are minimized or removed for users who request it. - Keyboard-operable tools. Our calculators and the funding selector are built to be operable by keyboard alone, with labeled inputs and programmatically announced results.
- Responsive, zoom-friendly layout. Content reflows at high zoom levels and on small screens without horizontal scrolling; data tables scroll within their own containers instead of breaking the page.
- Plain language. We write for roughly an 8th-grade reading level as an editorial standard — see our Editorial Policy — because cognitive accessibility is accessibility too.
Known limitations
Honesty about gaps beats a perfect-sounding statement:
- No formal audit yet. The site has been developed against WCAG 2.1 AA criteria but has not yet undergone independent expert testing or a full assistive-technology test pass (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack). This is planned.
- Third-party content. When you follow a link to a funding provider, a government source, or any external site, we cannot control the accessibility of the destination.
- Charts and complex visuals. Where comparison tools or calculators present visual output, we aim to provide text equivalents; some visualizations may lag behind this standard while the platform is young.
- PDF or downloadable content, if added in the future, will need its own accessibility pass before we consider it conformant.
Feedback: please tell us what is broken
If any part of BluLoans does not work with your assistive technology or settings, we want the report — it will be treated as a bug, not a suggestion. Email hello@bluloans.com with the subject line "Accessibility", and include:
- the page URL,
- what you were trying to do,
- the browser and assistive technology you were using.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days, and issues that block access to core content (guides, policy pages, calculators) are prioritized alongside material content errors. General response expectations are on our Contact page.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is not a launch checkbox. Our intended cadence: automated checks in the development pipeline, manual keyboard and screen-reader passes on new templates before they ship, and periodic review of this statement — the review date above will change whenever practice does. If you rely on assistive technology and want to be an early tester when new tools ship, say so in your email; we would genuinely value the help.
